Sum 41: Chuck
Reviewed by: Avery Salamon

Sum 41 started to grow up on their last release "Does This Look Infected?" and seem to have continued to grow on their new album "Chuck". When they had visited Africa as UN helpers they were saved by a man named Chuck. Chuck is the reason that Sum can put out an album that is a huge step forward in the right direction.

This is a solid album from start to finish. They have finally taken what they do live with metal covers and heavier riffs and put it on cd. No longer is this your little sisters pop-punk band and your secret cd thats lies under your bed. No longer should you be ashamed to say i like SUM 41!!!!

Most people have already heard the single "We're all to blame" which is very reminiscent of System of a down. They take from their roots and carft some heavy songs like "the bitter end" and "welcome to hell".

While this album has a huge heavy side the boys slow it down a bit on a couple of tracks like "some say". They dont hesitate to do this and the order in which it appears shows they belive in both their heavy and lighter sides.

Overall this album shows maturity in both music and lyrics. I rarely give any records numbers or ratings but this is a 10/10 or two thumbs up or a must buy. I highly reccomend this album to anyone and everyone. This cd should be in everyones top 10 of 2004.
