First and foremost, this entire album is a joy to listen to. The wall of sound style and the sheer amount of shredding on the entire disk makes this CD amazing. With songs like “Awake” that punch you in the face and “Falling Forever” with its soaring vocals, the self titled album by Mutiny Within is a diamond in the rough. With a scene oversaturated with bands that all sound alike, it’s nice to see a band that stands out sonically from the rest. You can tell the subtle influences by bands like Soilwork and Dream Theatre while listening, vocally and musically. Metal fans of all genres will find this album enjoyable. The vocals are mainly clean which may be a turn off for some, but it works with the style Mutiny Within is carving for itself. The guitars are always fast and in harmony with each other, and the solos are unbelievable. This album is a gem and I say anyone who loves great metal of any style would find a spot in their collection for this disc.
