In 2003, Motion City Soundtrack graced us with their catchy single, “The Future Freaks Me Out” and just 2 years later they return with Commit This to Memory. Motion City worked with now producer Mark Hoppus (Blink 182) to make the follow-up to I Am The Movie. So should the guys be worried about the dreaded sophomores slump? I wouldn’t be if I were them. Motion City are back again with infectiously catchy lyrics and danceable tunes.
Straight out of Minneapolis, Motion City come equipped with a moog and plenty of fun and catchy lyrics? Don’t be too deceived by all the dance music and listen closely to the lyrics because they carry a much darker meaning behind them. With a closer listen you’ll probably uncover a more personal side of Motion City. From the hatred for a certain someone on “When You’re’ Around” and “Time Turned Fragile.” And don’t forget to check out the very positive (sarcasm), “LG Fuad” also known as “Let’s Get Fucked Up and Die.” Wow, now that’s deep. But Motion City also enlisted in the help of Patrick Stump on their current single, “Everything’s Alright” and some back-up vocals from Mark Hoppus on “Hangman.”
In conclusion, Motion City Soundtrack deliver a fun and danceable sound while still having a more person, darker sound. I think everyone should check out Motion City Soundtrack, they’re very enjoyable!
