Bury Your Dead return with their debut album for Victory Records entitled “Cover Your Tracks”. The album has songs named after all Tom Cruise movies and not one lacks a punch like some of Tom’s movies do. The songs contained on this album deal with everything from loss to love, friends and family, and as most hardcore records, strength.
Every song on this cd packs a punch whether it be “Top Gun”, “The Color of Money” or “Losing It”. Every song has a massive breakdown that is sure to create mass hysteria in the pit! Bury Your Dead seems to know what they do best and continue to do it.
The band does take some chances having a breakdown into a piano solo on the track “Eyes Wide Shut” and a rewound tape into a breakdown on “Risky Business”. They also add some interesting interludes on “Magnolia”. BYD seem to want to expand but don’t want to alienate their fans by doing a quick change or even a moderate one. They want to grow slowly and expand while continuing to grow their fan base.
In the song “Losin’ It” the only words are “Bury Your F—king dead”, well that’s how you may feel if you don’t buy this record. People will cover their tracks after they thrash you in the pit. This album is a solid record from top to bottom and Bury Your Dead seem to be a band on the rise and with a spot on Ozzfest this summer it sure seems that they will take it to the next level.
