I want to make a Declaration here and now -- the new Bleeding Through record Declaration will tear your ears apart. It will definitely make a lot of people’s top 10 lists for the year. They must have gone into the studio determined to make an extremely amazing hard record. This is as much hardcore breakdowns as it is black metal riffage and beautiful keyboards throughout. The harmonies on some of the songs standout and make the album so much better.
The introduction to the album is a great lead in to what will soon be destruction. Using the sound bite from 300 was an even greater idea. The first song is Declaration which is a great way to rip into the music and get you focused on what is still yet to come. The next song Orange County Black and Blue is sick with a nice breakdown.
In Germany we get very tasty symphonic touches and a great solo, again another great song. I love the lyrics in the next song there was a flood with the words “overcome and overthrow.” The Loving memory of England is all sung and is great to listen to. The CD finishes with Sister Charlatan which is in awesome song. It also transitions to a piano play out which is a great way to end the CD.
Overall there are no weak tracks and all the songs tend to blend into one another to make an easy and accessible listen. The no weak link saying is often overused on albums but here it holds true. This is also a great transition back into the heaviness of their earlier releases.
