RIP Dimebag Darrell
1966 - 2004

A little over two weeks ago I had shots with Dime and talked football with Vinnie. I woke up this morning to text messages, voicemails, emails and IMs about Dime being shot on stage. I couldnt believe it; I'm still in shock. Some deranged lunatic kills him apparently "'cause pantera broke up". What the hell is that? I might ramble on in this so please just let it slide this is from the heart.

I had the unique pleasure of meeting Damageplan at what was once Elektra Records offices and hearing "New Found Power" early. I had never met the brothers Abbot before nor any other members of the band. They took everyone in like family. It was awesome; we all did shots of crown with Dime. They spoke to us like they were our friends, not like "oh youre my record company so I'll kiss your ass or your just some industry person". That will always affect me in a good way. Bands that know what people do for them and treat them with respect as was rightfully also give do the boys of Damageplan.

The Damageplan album was ok at best, but it was like any good band's first album - it was loaded with potential. I saw them live on the Headbangers Ball Tour and was let down a bit. Now I've seen Pantera numerous times and this in itself will always be hard to beat. The band still had talent shine through there and they even did Pantera covers. Two weeks ago when I saw them it was a standout performance leaving the imagination running wild as to what can happen for them on the next record.

Last night when Dimebag died the world lost one of the greatest guitarists of our era. As we all sit in shock from this horrific event let us all be happy that Dime is in heaven shootin' shots of crown with Jimi writing riffs we will never hear. As I sit here wiping away tears once again I must say RIP Dimebag Darrel 1966-2004

You will be missed!!!!!
